PEB Maintains Matric Exam Schedule During Ramadan

Punjab Education Board (PEB) has officially declared that the upcoming SSC matriculation exams will proceed as per the original schedule, unaffected by the holy month of Ramadan.

Previously, the All Pakistan Private Schools Association (APPSA) had submitted a letter to the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab and the Secretary of Higher Education, urging a one-month delay in the matric exams.

APPSA Central President, Mian Shabir Ahmad Hashmi, emphasized the adverse impact of smog and extended winter holidays on students. He also highlighted concerns about the loss of crucial study time due to the prolonged winter break.

Despite the appeal from APPSA, the provincial education board has firmly stated that there will be no postponement of the matric exams, affirming that the exam schedule will remain unchanged. The exams are set to commence on March 1, and the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore has already released a tentative date sheet.

Officials involved in the decision-making process have pointed out that any delay in the matric examinations could have a cascading effect on the schedules of higher-level exams, prompting the board to maintain the original timeline.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has recently opted to delay the annual SSC 9th and 10th grade exams. Originally scheduled to start on March 14, the exams have been postponed by more than a month.
