Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are expected to enter the upper and central areas of the country starting on July 12th (evening) and intensifying on July 14th, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD). On the 14th (evening/night), a westerly wave is also forecast to enter the higher sections.
Under the impact of these systems of weather, rain/wind-thundershower (with few heavy falls) will be expected in Kashmir, (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur), Murree, Galliyat, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Kasur and Okara from 12th (evening/night) to 17th July with occasional gaps.
Rain/wind-thundershower (with few heavy falls) is predicted in Gilgit Baltistan (Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), Chitral, Swat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Kurram, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, D.I Khan, Bannu, Karak, Waziristan, Mianwali, Khusab, Sargodha, Hafizabad, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh from 13th (evening/night) to 17th July with occasional gaps.
Rain/wind-thundershower is also anticipated in Barkhan, Loralai, Kalat, Khuzdar, Zhob, Lasbella, Awaran, Musakhel, D.G Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addu, Sukkur, Jacobabad, Nagarparkar, Tharparkar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Mirpur Khas from 14th (evening/night to 16th July.
From the 14th to the 17th of July, heavy rain may produce urban floods in low-lying regions of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Gujranwala, and Lahore, as well as landslides in susceptible areas of Murree, Galliyat, Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, and mountainous portions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Farmers are encouraged to plan their activities in accordance with the weather prediction. Tourists and travelers are encouraged to be especially cautious during the wet season to prevent any unfortunate situations. Dust storms and wind thunderstorms can cause damage to unsecured infrastructure such as utility poles and solar panels. During a windstorm or severe rain, the general public is recommended to seek shelter in a safe location.
