
Meta has launched a voice translation capability made with AI on both Facebook and Instagram, allowing creators to automatically caption their videos into another language with their own. The tool, currently supporting English-Spanish translations, is more advanced than normal dubbing, as it clones the voice tone of the creator, making the translated version sound more original.
To use the tool, creators just record their videos as they normally do and speak loudly and limiting background noise. AI can support a maximum of two speakers in its video, but it will work better when voices are not overlapping.
Users can select the “Translate your voice with Meta AI” option in the sharing menu when uploading a reel. On Instagram, it is available to all users in the supported regions, while on Facebook, they first have to have over 1,000 followers. Creators can select their preferred translation settings and then publish.
It also offers an optional lip-sync adjustment so that AI can edit lip movements and make the dubbed version appear more natural. Creators can preview and edit the translated video and get quality control before posting.
Once published, translated reels show a label confirming that AI translation has been used. Viewers can switch between the original and dubbed versions, while creators can access engagement insights that show how many individuals watched the translated content.
Currently, the feature is limited to the translation between English and Spanish, but Meta has confirmed the addition of more languages soon. Its global rollout is planned to be expanded to allow creators spread across the globe to reach larger audiences without language barriers.
