Jujutsu Kaisen Spin-off ‘Mojuro’ Expands the Universe with a New Generation

The Jujutsu Kaisen saga is not over just yet. While the original manga is still on a dramatic climax, the creator, Gege Akutami, has launched a new spin-off series called Mojuro (Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo). The new manga continues several decades after the original story and gives readers a fresh look at the world of curses, sorcerers, and legacies.

Mojuro’s timeline: When does it take place?

The original Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended with the dramatic defeat of Sukuna, followed by an epilogue featuring a 62-year time skip. In that glimpse of the future, we saw Yuta Okkotsu and Maki Zenin live long, fulfilling lives before passing away from old age.

Mojuro begins right where that epilogue left things, 60 years later, and focuses on the grandchildren of Yuta and Maki: Yuuka and Tsurugi. These new sorcerers are determined to honor their grandparents’ legacy and become powerful guardians of the cursed world.

A new Trio emerges

While Mojuro shines the spotlight on Yuuka and Tsurugi, the series shows another mysterious foreign sorcerer, Maru. But Maru is not exactly human, he turns out to be an alien of the Simuria race, sent to Earth to learn Japanese sorcery.

Yuuka, Tsurugi, and Maru become a trio that reflects the iconic team of Yuji, Nobara, and Fushiguro of the original series. Their relationship, struggles, and growth promise to carry the same emotional weight and exciting action that Jujutsu Kaisen fans loved.

Yuta and Maki are no longer alive, their presence looms large in Mojuro. The grandchildren can remember the legendary grandparents and their stories and lessons, and show how their lives were shaped by their family’s courage and sacrifices.

Where to read Mojuro

The official first chapter of Mojuro is currently available on Viz Media and Manga Plus, where fans can read the next part of the universe of JJK. With new characters, high-stakes battles, and a bold expansion of Gege Akutami’s world, Mojuro is already becoming a worthy continuation of the beloved franchise.
