Live location feature lets you share your real-time location with friends privately in DMs on one-on-one chats or in group chats. Live location sharing is convenient and also safer because you can share where you are using real time.

Your live location is only available in the DMs and is not visible elsewhere.
The live location automatically expires after an hour.
You can stop sharing your location at any time.
Your live location details cannot be forwarded to other chats.

How to Share Your Live Location to Someone on Instagram

Follow these steps to share your live location:

Open Instagram app.
Tap the DM icon at the top right corner.
Open the chat or group where you want to share your location.
Tap the “+” Button.
Select “Location” from the menu.
Tap “Share your location.” It will share your live location as a message.
Tap “View location” below your message to see a detailed map.
To stop sharing location, tap Stop sharing location.

You can pull in a pinned location by choosing the ‘Drop pin’ option in the Location menu, search for a specific place by choosing the ‘Find a place’ option in the Location menu, or watch the location attempt to follow you by tapping ‘Let the location follow me’ on that very same drop pin or ‘Follow me’ button once you’ve chosen which item you want.
