After moving to Saudi Arabia, one of the most important documents you need to have is your resident ID, also known as an Iqama. The Iqama, issued by the Saudi Ministry of Interior, contains important details about your identity and residency.
General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) stated in 2023 that expatriates and foreign workers can now use their digital Iqama on their smartphones instead of the physical card. You may now get your digital Iqama by following the simple instructions below.
How to Get Your Digital Iqama
You can download a digital copy of your Iqama through the Absher app or the Absher website, both available at the Absher platform.
Method 1: Through the Absher App
- Download the Absher app on Apple, Android, or Huawei devices.
- Log in using your Absher username and password.
- If you don’t have an Absher account, you must create one first.
- Tap on ‘My Services’.
- Select ‘Activate Digital ID’ from the available options.
- You will see basic details of your Iqama.
- Tap ‘Activate Digital ID’.
- A QR code will be generated, which officials can scan when required.

Method 2: Through the Absher Website
- Visit absher.sa.
- Log in using your username and password.
- Enter the verification code sent to your registered mobile number.
- Click on the menu option next to your profile picture.
- Select ‘View Digital Documents’.
- Click on Resident ID (Iqama) to view and save your digital Iqama.
Now that you have the digital Iqama, you can travel more easily without carrying your physical ID. Activate it on your Absher account so it can be displayed anytime. If you have any questions, you can post them in the comments without a problem.
