Gmail’s new ‘manage subscriptions’ feature lets you unsubscribe from emails easily

Summary
  • Gmail now lets users manage and unsubscribe from email lists easily.
  • New 'Manage Subscriptions' section available on Android, iOS, and web.
  • No more visiting external sites to unsubscribe.

Gmail is getting a much-needed update that seeks to improve inbox management. The new Manage Subscriptions feature is being rolled out to users on Android, iOS, and the web, and it will change how users unsubscribe from marketing and spam emails when it arrives.

While Gmail has long had an unsubscribe option before it was not always that efficient or simple to find. The new feature changes that. Users can now see and manage all their active email subscriptions easily.

The Manage Subscriptions is found in the Gmail sidebar, below the Trash icon. Once tapped, it shows a list of all your active subscriptions, as well as how many emails they have sent you in the last several days. There, the users can tap the message icon where they can confirm by clicking on the unsubscribe on the pop-up window.

What makes this tool powerful is that it does not require one to go to third-party websites or fill out complex forms. Gmail will issue unsubscribe request on behalf of the user directly and this saves time and frustration too.

Currently, the feature is rolled out in phases and might not be available to all customers. However, when it is rollout completely, this will become one of the most user-friendly features Google has added in Gmail in quite a long time.
