How to Delete Your LinkedIn Resume

Having multiple outdated resumes on your LinkedIn profile can create confusion for recruiters and hiring managers. It’s important to regularly update your profile by removing old resumes and uploading your most recent CV.

When recruiters view your profile, you want to present your most up-to-date skills, experience, and qualifications. Outdated resumes may contain information that is no longer relevant or accurate, leading to questions about your background.

In addition, having several versions of your resume on your profile adds unnecessary clutter. Streamlining down to your current resume helps showcase your profile in the best possible light.

Delete Your LinkedIn Resume From the Web

If you use LinkedIn on a desktop web browser, deleting an outdated resume is easy

  • Log into your LinkedIn account in a web browser on your computer.
  • Click on the “Jobs” tab located along the top toolbar.
  • On the left sidebar, select “Application settings.”
  • Here you will see a list of all resumes ever uploaded to your profile. Click the three dots next to any resume you wish to remove.
  • Select the “Delete” option. Confirm deletion of the resume.

The selected resume(s) will now be permanently removed from your profile. You can easily upload a new, updated resume by clicking “Upload resume.”

Delete Your LinkedIn Resume From the Mobile App

You can also easily delete LinkedIn resumes directly from the LinkedIn mobile app on your iPhone or Android phone:

  • Open the LinkedIn app and log in.
  • Tap the “Jobs” icon located along the bottom right toolbar.
  • Tap the three horizontal dots next to “Search jobs.”
  • Choose “Application settings” from the dropdown menu.
  • Tap the three dots beside any resume you wish to delete.
  • Select “Delete” to remove the resume from your profile.

The mobile app interface makes it similarly quick and simple to manage the resumes displayed on your profile. In just a few taps, you can present a streamlined list of your credentials to recruiters.

Alternative: Hide Your Resume on LinkedIn

If you want to retain resumes on file within LinkedIn but prevent recruiters from viewing them, you have the option to hide them:

  • From the Application Settings page, locate the “Share resume data with recruiters” toggle switch.
  • Click it to the “off” (gray) position to stop sharing resume data.

It will prevent recruiters from viewing your resume. However, LinkedIn will still have them saved internally (unless you choose to delete them).

Conclusion

Updating your LinkedIn resume is an essential step as you advance your career over time. Regularly removing outdated resumes and uploading your latest credentials ensures your profile remains focused and error-free.

Both the desktop and mobile interfaces make resume management simple. In just a few clicks, you can delete versions that no longer represent your experience level or skills.

Don’t let outdated resumes create confusion about your background. Take a few minutes to streamline your list of credentials and showcase your greatest assets.
