Too many people are now searching for alternate WhatsApp applications, which are still very common and have thousands of subscribers, such as Signal Private Messenger and Telegram Messenger. Chat Feature Comparison:

WhatsApp Messenger: 

  • WhatsApp Messenger has all the chat functions necessary, including sending files (videos, documents, pictures), contact, location and many more.
  • You get options for voice calling and video calling.
  • The disappearing chat feature was introduced by WhatsApp, and it has a delete for everyone feature to unsend the text.

Telegram Messenger:

  • Sharing localized media, contact details and voice messages and many more. 
  • It has a calling feature for both voice and video.
  • Telegram Messenger has a secret chat function that is similar to the disappearing texts like WhatsApp.

Signal Private Messenger:

  • As well as the calling function, media, Video clip, contact details, and location.
  • The disappearing texts function is also available and that you can set a time from 5 seconds to 7 days.

1. Features of Group Chat:

WhatsApp Messenger: 

  • The WhatsApp group is a very common function that may be used by each of us.
  • WhatsApp allows you to add a group of 256 participants.
  • Apart from voice calls, there is a group video call function available.

Telegram Messenger:

  • In a group, you may add 200,000 participants, and it’s a very large number of participants.
  • It has a voice call function for groups, but as of now, community video calls are from the beta phase.

Signal private Messenger: 

  • You have a 1000 participants group limit, and in chat group, it also has all the other chat functions.
  • It also has features for voice and video calls.

The Status Feature

WhatsApp Messenger has a special Status function to place photos or 30-sec videos like Facebook and Instagram stories. The two other Signal Private Messenger and Telegram Messenger do not have these functions.  

Limit Uploads

You can send up to 16 MB of videos and other files of up to 100 MB on WhatsApp Messenger.   Telegram Messenger helps you to send files of up to 2GB. However, there is a 100 MB limit on uploading and sending files on Signal Private Messenger.    

Web version

WhatsApp Messenger has a Web version that allows you to log in to your account via the phone app. After that, you still have all the functions of the application on the WhatsApp Web.  

There is a web version of Telegram Messenger, and it does not require a mobile to log in.   

Signal Private Messenger does not have a web version but has a desktop app that WhatsApp Messenger and Telegram Messenger have access to.    

Backup Feature

WhatsApp Messenger has offline and online backup, and to restore chats and media, you can pick your Email address.   As it has a cloud service where all conversations are stored, Telegram does not provide a backup function.   Signal Private Messenger provides only local backup, and the drive or cloud storage can not be backup.

WhatsApp Messenger:

  • On all chats, it has end-to-end encryption so that all your text, photos, and everything is encrypted and the texts can be read by just you and the receiver.
  • WhatsApp Messenger also offers a fingerprint lock function to allow biometrics to lock your chats. In addition, you also receive two-factor authentication support (2FA).

Telegram Messenger:

  • Its conversations, instead of visitor, are user-to-server encrypted.
  • On Telegram, there is a Hidden Chats function that provides encrypted chats from end-to-end, and texts sent can not be decrypted anywhere.
  • A built-in app lock and two-step verification function are also offered by Telegram.

Signal Private Messenger:

  • The signal Messenger encrypts messages, calls and chat metadata.
  • In fact, it has a “Sealed Sender” function to help protect user privacy and a Relay Calling function that re-routes calls via Signal servers.
  • In fact, on Signal Private Messenger, there are several other privacy function that make the chatting experience much more safe.
