Game Awards 2023 took place on December 8th, recognizing excellence in video games over the past year. Baldur’s Gate 3 was the big winner of the night, taking home the coveted Game of the Year award as well as seven other awards.
In one of the least surprising announcements of the event, Baldur’s Gate 3 won Game of the Year. The epic RPG also won awards for Best Score and Music, Best Multiplayer, Best RPG, Best Community Support, Best Performance for Neil Newbon as Astarion, and the Player’s Voice award.
While Baldur’s Gate 3 ruled overall, Remedy Entertainment’s Alan Wake 2 cleaned up in the narrative categories. The psychological action horror game won for Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, and Best Art Direction.
Nintendo and Square Enix also had a strong showing at The Game Awards 2023. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom won for Best Action/Adventure Game, while Final Fantasy XVI took home Best Score and Music and Most Anticipated Game for the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
