Supreme Court Grants Temporary Relief to Imran Khan in Lawyer Murder Case

ISLAMABAD – The Supreme Court of Pakistan has granted temporary relief to Imran Khan in connection with the murder case of a Quetta lawyer. The court has ordered that Khan cannot be arrested until August 9.

The decision was made by a three-member bench during a hearing held on Monday, which Khan attended. The court informed Khan that this was a provisional reprieve in the ongoing case.

The case revolves around the murder of lawyer Abdul Razzaq Shar, who had previously filed a petition against Khan alleging treason. It was reported to the court that Shar had been receiving threats due to his legal action against the PTI leader.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) for Balochistan submitted a report to the court, listing four individuals, including Khan, as persons of interest in the investigation. The report also noted that statements from Shar’s family members had been recorded. However, it criticized Khan for his lack of cooperation despite multiple notices.

Shar, a Supreme Court lawyer, was assassinated last month in Quetta. He was targeted in a drive-by shooting by armed motorcyclists and later succumbed to his injuries at Quetta Civil Hospital. His death has sparked controversy and drawn attention to the legal battle he was engaged in at the time of his demise.
