Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) suspended Pervez Khattak, former defense minister and head of the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chapter, from the party with immediate impact on Wednesday.
According to a notification published on Wednesday, the PTI sent Khattak with a show-cause notice on June 21 on charges that he incited PTI leaders to leave the party.
Khattak resigned from all party posts a month ago, shortly after PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s detention on May 9 sparked violent rallies and arson assaults on civic and military buildings. “Nothing good happened on May 9, and I have previously condemned the incident,” he said at a press conference in Islamabad. May Allah forbid such tragedies in the future.”
He stated that he had decided to resign from his party post and that he would consider his next steps after consulting with friends.
It is worth noting that a significant number of PTI leaders left the party after May 9.
