Peshawar Zalmi have announced their roster of 8 retained players for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9 season. The retentions feature prominent names across five categories – Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Emerging.
Leading the pack are captain Babar Azam and Rovman Powell in the Platinum category. The batting duo will continue to form the core of Zalmi’s batting lineup.
Saim Ayub and Tom Kohler-Cadmore are the two retentions in the Diamond category, bringing experience and depth to the middle-order.
The Gold retentions are wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris, who has also been named brand ambassador, and pacer Aamer Jamal.
Haris’ belligerent strokeplay and maturity beyond his years will bolster the top order, while Jamal’s accurate bowling will spearhead the pace attack.
In the Silver category, Zalmi has retained all-rounder Khurram Shehzad to provide balance. Finally, the sole Emerging retention is teenage wicketkeeper-batsman Haseebullah Khan, who has shown tremendous potential in his nascent career.
Zalmi will now focus on building a strong squad around these 8 retained players during the PSL 9 draft later this month. With the right combinations, they will hope to capture their elusive second PSL title.
