Apple’s upcoming iOS 26 already teases new exciting features, such as a new Liquid Glass design language, customized chat backgrounds, and improved CarPlay. But that is not all. Recently, the Unicode Consortium has announced eight new emojis that will be part of the Unicode 17.0 addition this fall.
The new emojis are eclectic and include such things as a treasure chest, an apple core, and a highly-desired Bigfoot (Hairy Creature). And here is a complete list of new additions:
- Trombone
- Treasure Chest
- Distorted Face
- Apple Core
- Fight Cloud
- Ballet Dancers
- Hairy Creature (aka Bigfoot)
- Orca
As always, Apple will create customized versions of these emojis before including them in iOS. It means that you will not be able to see them in the iPhone emoji keyboard when iOS 26 arrives however they will come in an iOS 26 update. For reference, the Unicode 16.0 emoji did not appear on iPhones until iOS 18.4 a 6 months after its release.
The new collection is more playful and expressive than the previous batch. From the silly Distorted Face to the playful Fight Cloud, these emojis are perfect for livening up any group messages.
Therefore, while these eight new emojis will not make it to the iPhone keyboards just yet, this is likely to happen sometime in the future following an update to iOS 26.
