Islamabad Capital Territory Police (ICTP) has announced a ban on motorcycle entry into the city’s red zone. This decision has been taken due to security concerns and is expected to remain in effect until the 12th of Muharram, which falls on Monday, July 31.
The ICTP made the announcement via an official tweet, informing the public about the new security measures. To facilitate the movement of people into the red zone, a shuttle service has been introduced from three points in the city – Serena Chowk, Parade Avenue, and Marriott Chowk. The authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with these new regulations and refrain from bringing motorcycles into the red zone.
In addition to this, the ICTP is also taking stringent action against e-challan defaulters. The department has started issuing suspension notices for driving licenses of those who fail to pay their e-challans. A significant number of lawbreakers have already submitted their e-challans, with over 50,000 fines issued to motorcyclists driving without helmets.
The ICTP is using Safe City cameras to track and impound the vehicles of e-challan violators at various police stations. Defaulters who have not yet paid their fines are being notified through text messages and phone calls, urging them to settle their dues immediately.
These measures reflect the ICTP’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the city. The department is urging citizens to comply with these rules and cooperate with the police to ensure a safe and secure environment in Islamabad.
