According to the words of the Quran, Allah says in Surah Qadar, verse 1, “Indeed, we sent the Quran down on the Night of Decree.”
Worship during the excellent night of power, or Shab e Qadr, is valuable because Allah states in Surah Al-Qadar, verse 3 of the Quran, “The Night of Decision is better than a thousand months.”
The Laylat al Qadr (Laylatul Qadr) or Night of Power occurs on odd evenings during the last week of Ramadan. Still, it is most usually associated with the 27th night of Ramadan. Muslims believe that Allah’s blessings and mercy are great on this night, and sins are forgiven. Thus they perform extra nawafils, recite the Holy Quran, and make dua throughout the night.
