Punjab Education Department has announced revised winter school timings for both public and private schools in Lahore. This change in schedule is set to impact students, parents, and teachers alike.
The new timetable, which came into effect on October 16, will remain in place until April 14, 2024. The adjustments have been made keeping in mind the shorter daylight hours during the winter season.
For boys’ schools, the new schedule will be from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm from Monday to Thursday and Saturday. However, on Fridays, classes will run continuously from 8:30 am to 12:15 pm without any breaks.
Girls’ schools, on the other hand, will start their day at 8:15 am and end at 2:15 pm, except on Fridays when they will close at 12:00 pm.
Double-shift schools have also seen a change in their timings. The first shift will now operate from 7:45 am to 12:15 pm, with no breaks, from Monday to Thursday and Saturday. The second shift will run from 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm on the same days. On Fridays, however, classes will be held from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm.
This change in schedule is expected to ensure that students can make the most of the daylight hours during the winter months. It also aims to provide a comfortable learning environment for students by avoiding the early morning and late afternoon chill.
The Punjab Education Department has urged all stakeholders to take note of these changes and adjust their routines accordingly.
