Lahore – The Lahore High Court (LHC) has officially declared a two-week winter recess, starting from December 24, 2023, to January 8, 2024. This announcement aligns with the seasonal court closures typically observed during this time of year.
During the announced holiday period, the LHC will suspend its regular proceedings, with the exception of specific case hearings that will proceed as per the usual schedule. These cases include those involving bail applications, stay orders, and habeas corpus pleas, ensuring that urgent legal matters are not left unattended.
The decision to continue hearing critical cases reflects the court’s commitment to providing timely justice and addressing matters that cannot bear significant delays. It is a common practice for courts to maintain a skeleton roster to deal with urgent judicial matters even while on break.
The court is set to resume its full range of services and normal operations for all other categories of cases on January 9, 2024. This brief hiatus provides an opportunity for the judiciary and court staff to rejuvenate before returning to their duties in the new year.
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, had earlier announced the schedule for winter vacations for educational institutions across the province. Schools and colleges will observe their winter break from December 18, 2023, until January 1, 2024, allowing students and educators alike to enjoy the festive season and colder weather.
