Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan, and several other regions in Sindh are set to experience intermittent showers in the coming days. This forecast comes as a welcome relief, signaling an end to the hot and humid spell that has gripped the metropolis for the past week.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department, in its latest weather advisory, has predicted rainfall for Karachi, promising much-needed respite for the residents of this bustling port city. The current humidity rate in the capital of Sindh is over 70 percent, and with temperatures soaring above 36 degrees, the situation has been increasingly uncomfortable.
However, the Met Office has also issued a warning about a new spell of monsoon rains that could affect several cities in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and Balochistan. This weather system is expected to start impacting these areas from today until July 17.
This new weather pattern, originating from the Arabian Sea, is set to penetrate the country starting the evening of July 12. It is expected to primarily impact the upper and central regions of the country.
In addition to the rain forecast, the Met Office has also issued a warning about potential flood risks, particularly in low-lying areas. There is also a risk of landslides in mountainous regions due to the anticipated heavy rainfall. Both concerned departments and citizens have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential risks.
While the predicted rainfall in Karachi and other parts of Sindh will bring relief from the ongoing heatwave, it also brings with it potential risks. Therefore, all residents and relevant departments must stay alert and prepared to handle any eventualities.
