The Colombo Strikers have announced the addition of Imam-ul-Haq to their roster for the highly anticipated fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL). The left-handed opening batsman is set to replace Lorcan Tucker, marking his first-ever participation in an overseas T20 league.
Imam-ul-Haq will be joining a star-studded lineup that includes all-format captain Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, Wahab Riaz, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Mohammad Nawaz. This move comes as part of the team’s strategy to strengthen their batting lineup for the upcoming tournament.
Imam-ul-Haq, 27, brings with him a wealth of T20 experience, having previously represented Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). His inclusion in the team is expected to bolster the Strikers’ performance in the forthcoming season.
It’s worth noting that a total of 11 Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Naseem Shah, and Fakhar Zaman, have secured contracts for the fourth edition of the LPL. In addition to these direct contracts, 34 other Pakistani cricketers had registered themselves for the draft.
Each franchise was required to contribute $500,000 towards the auction to acquire players, resulting in a combined total of $2.5 million across the five teams participating in the league. The fourth edition of the LPL will be hosted at three different venues – Hambantota, Colombo, and Kandy, with the Jaffna Kings looking to defend their championship title.
The tournament is set to commence on July 31 and will conclude on August 22. Five teams will compete for the coveted trophy in what promises to be a thrilling contest of cricketing prowess.
