Govt Announces Advance Salary for Eid-ul-Azha

The federal government has agreed to pay June salaries a week before Eid ul Azha, which is expected to fall on June 29.

In an announcement to the National Assembly today, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar declared that all serving government employees would be paid in advance for June on June 23 due to Eid-ul-Azha.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Eid-ul-Azha would most likely fall on Thursday, June 29th, based on their forecast for the sighting of the Dhul-Hajj moon.

The cabinet division recently released a letter describing public and optional holidays for the forthcoming year to enable public inquiries and preparation. There will be three Eid-ul-Adha vacations on 29 June, 30 June, and 1 July, plus an additional holiday on 2 July, which falls on a Sunday, giving it a long weekend.

These dates are subject to change dependent on the actual moon sighting. Once the moon has been officially observed, a separate announcement will be issued.

The Central Sighting Hilal Committee, which meets on the 29th day of each Islamic month, will make the definitive declaration about the moon sighting.
