Unable to receive OTP on your iPhone? Many iPhone users face this problem with OTP. If you’ve tried asking for it many times but were completely unsuccessful, this article is for you. Here we will discuss all the possible reasons that can cause this problem and how you can fix them.

OTP, which stands for One Time Password, is a verification code used for authentication to prove your identity. This is a 4 or 6 digit access code that is sent to your registered phone number. OTP is now used by almost every other online web service including social media, banks and other websites.

The main purpose of OTP authentication is to provide an extra layer of security to your account, but it can be a big headache if you don’t receive OTP on your phone number in time. Let’s see how you can fix this OTP not received issue on your iPhone.

Request a new OTP

Not receiving OTP in time is a common problem that almost all iPhone users face. An OTP is only valid for a fixed period. If you did not receive it the first time, there is always an option to request a new OTP.

Whether you log into your social media account or online banking website, every web service provides this ability to Resend OTP. There might be a technical problem on the server side. Maybe your OTP is not generated in the first place or there is a network problem.

Receive OTP via call

Resending OTP will solve the problem for most people. You may need to wait a few minutes to request a new OTP. Some web services (e.g. Google) also offer a Call option to receive OTP. If you did not receive OTP at the second chance also, you can try the call option.

With this option, you will receive an automated call to your phone number. Simply pick up the call and you will hear an AI-generated voice verbally speaking your OTP number. Write down this number and enter it on the login page. This is another way to receive OTP on your iPhone if the text message option was not working.

Check network signals

You may not receive OTP in time due to lack of network signals on your iPhone. Just watch the network signals in the status bar in the upper right corner. If you don’t see any signal, go to control center and enable airplane mode. After few seconds wait and turn it off again. This will reset your network signals.

If you still can’t find any luck, go to Settings > Mobile data > Network selection on your iPhone and turn off Automatic button. Then, you will see available networks. Select your network provider from the list and you can retrieve your network signals.

Check your charging plan

Some network providers require you to have an active plan on your phone number to receive incoming calls and SMS. If your iPhone is not receiving OTP, it might be because you don’t have an active plan. You can Check your data balance via USSD code or using your network provider’s official app. If it shows zero balance, recharge your phone and try requesting a new OTP.

Check Do Not Disturb Mode

Do not disturb mode can also prevent your iPhone from receiving OTPs and other text messages. If you have enabled Do Not Disturb on your iPhone, disable it and resend OTP. This might solve your problem. Just swipe the screen down from the top right corner, then tap it Do not disturb icon. Press it again to deactivate.

Match your phone number

Have you checked the phone number to which the OTP is sent? You might have registered a different phone number on the website while trying to receive OTP on a different number. To verify this, check the last digits of the number displayed on the website. Associate them with the current phone number you have on your iPhone.

Contact your carrier

If nothing has worked for you, the last option is to contact your carrier. Ask the customer support manager that you are not receiving OTP on your phone number. You can try to send a normal text message to yourself. This will be helpful to check if the issue is in particular OTP or if you are not getting any other text messages as well.
