Focus on Overall Development

The ministry’s purpose in eliminating centralized exams is to give students more time to focus on themselves, learn important life skills, and be active, rather than on useless competition. The ministry recognizes the need for appropriate education and stresses the importance of a positive and satisfying educational experience that goes beyond traditional educational requirements.

Shift towards Teacher Accountability

The ministry is dedicated to keeping teachers accountable through summative internal diagnostic assessments, even though centralized exams are no longer provided. Teachers will be held accountable for their student’s progress through these exams, which will also shift the focus from exam-centered teaching to a more comprehensive method of learning.

programs that have not been evaluated recently but are intended to give students chances to grow and learn in every way. These initiatives are designed to complement traditional academic measures, enhancing students’ educational journey and fostering a well-rounded set of skills.

Challenges for Teachers During Transition

However, teachers conducting centralized exams for primary and middle-standard students have raised concerns about unpaid compensation and financial strain incurred during their exam duties over the past three years. The teachers have not gotten their salaries yet, despite the FDE’s assurance. There have been calls for the move to local exams to resolve their issues.
