How to Add a Credit Card to PayPal
The good thing has to adding a card to your PayPal account is simple and takes only a few minutes. However, you must first physically have a debit card.
While you can add a debit card or a credit card to your PayPal account, ensure that linking a bank account is an additional procedure, even if your debit card generates funds out of a checking account.
If you have PayPal credit, you can spend it up and then pay the balance you have with a credit card during the payment process.
- Go to your PayPal Dashboard.
- Click the box titled Link a card on the right-hand side, under the Credit and debit cards section.
- In the PayPal Dashboard, link a card.
- Fill out the form with your card number, expiry date, security code, and address.
Note: If your address is incorrect, your card will be refused at checkout. Because billing and shipping addresses aren’t always the same, make sure you know which one is linked to your card.
- When you click Save, you’ll be able to use your credit card to make purchases on PayPal.
Note: Don’t worry about missing out on reward points, miles, or money since you’ll be able to get them directly from PayPal.
- Go back to the same page, click Edit, and then click Delete Card to delete a card from PayPal. It will no longer connect with your account after that.
Tips to Add a Credit Card to PayPal
You may still transfer money to your PayPal account (from a connected bank account) and use it in combination with or instead of a credit card.
Also, keep in mind that using a debit card to make a PayPal purchase is not the same as linking the same checking account to which your debit card is linked, even though you can use both to pay.
You’ll be ready to buy after you’ve linked a card to PayPal, but you won’t be doing it directly through PayPal. So, to get started, you may want to think about linking your PayPal account to a service like Amazon.
