Pakistan Unveils Tax-Free Mobile Registration for Visitors: A 120-Day Relief

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has launched the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) Temporary Mobile Registration System. This initiative is designed to assist overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals visiting the country by enabling them to register and use their personal mobile phones for up to 120 days from their arrival date, free of any duties and taxes.

The Temporary Mobile Registration System was developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom (MoITT), the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The system can be utilized by visitors during each of their visits to Pakistan. Applications for registration can be made online via the official PTA website.

During his address at the inauguration, Prime Minister Sharif underscored the government’s dedication to providing superior connectivity facilities to all visitors, ensuring they remain connected throughout their stay in Pakistan.

Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Syed Amin Ul Haq, echoed the Prime Minister’s sentiments at the launch ceremony. He stated that the government is committed to delivering seamless ICT services across Pakistan and pledged to ensure and enhance connectivity for all overseas Pakistanis and foreign nationals visiting the country.

Chairman of the PTA, Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders, including MoITT, FBR, and FIA, for their invaluable support. He also highlighted that the PTA has implemented numerous consumer-centric initiatives and regulatory measures to guarantee the delivery of high-quality ICT services nationwide.
