Experts Confirm Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 Dates in Pakistan

The Ruet-i-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr would be observed on Saturday, April 22, 2023, throughout Pakistan.

The committee’s meeting is set to sight the Shawwal moon on Thursday, 20 April, according to the council’s Secretary-General, Khalid Ijaz Mufti. The chances of seeing the moon that evening are slim.

If the moon is visible on Thursday, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday, April 21. Mufti predicts that Eid will be celebrated on 22 April, following a 30-day fast during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to the council, the moon will be born on Thursday, April 20 at 9:13 a.m. Pakistan time. The Mufti further declared that any reports of a crescent moon sighting on April 20, 2023, would be incorrect.

Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month during which Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. Prayers, family gatherings, and feasts have traditionally celebrated the event.

The exact day of Eid-ul-Fitr is decided by the sighting of the lunar crescent, which marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal.
