WhatsApp is rolling out a feature that will make it possible for users to automatically add music to photos and videos in status updates. The feature is already available in the Android beta version (2.25.2.5) and should come soon globally.
How It Works
- A music icon will now appear in the status section of your profile.
- Users can search for their favorite songs and artists or the trending songs musicians post.
- You can add a 15 second music clip with photo statuses or sync the track to video statuses.
This feature is made possible by a partnership between Meta and Universal Music Group. WhatsApp is rolling out songs featuring household names and unknown artists, starting with 1 million pieces spanning six countries.
It allows viewers of music-enhanced statuses to tap on the song title to land on the artist’s Instagram profile.
This update aligns with WhatsApp’s recent enhancements, including:
- Improved status interfaces.
- Quick reactions and camera effects.
- Sticker pack sharing to have fun conversations together.
While these are typical moves for such platforms, their timing with WhatsApp’s launch has further benefited from the rising user engagement and its creativity.
