WhatsApp is testing having more control over group invite links by the group admins. WABetaInfo reported the feature being spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta 25.22.10.73 build on iOS.
In Android, the same feature appeared in the previous WhatsApp 2.25.23.5 beta build and is currently rolling out to WhatsApp Beta TestFlight users on iOS.
With the update, admins will find a new “Invite via link or QR code” option under the Group Permissions page. This setting can be enabled or disabled based on how the admin wants to use invite links to work.
When the feature is enabled, the invite link or QR code will allow anyone to join the group without admin approval. When turned off, all new join requests will require manual admin approval.

The feature will be disabled by default to respect Group Privacy Policy guidelines. However, keeping it active can speed up the onboarding of the community, useful for larger communities or business groups.
Notably, non-admin members will be allowed to share the QR code or link on the Group Info page. Admins will also be able to remove links or codes that already exist, at any time, instantly making old ones invalid to control group membership.
Some iOS beta testers already have access to the new controls, and the Android beta users previously did as well. A wider rollout is expected in the coming weeks.
