The caretaker government of Sindh has announced December 25th as a public holiday on the occasion of Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas.
In a notification issued on Monday, the provincial government declared that December 25th will be an off day for all government offices, autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils in Sindh, except those providing essential services.
Federal government and other provincial governments are also expected to announce a holiday on December 25th for Quaid-e-Azam Day.
According to the Cabinet Division’s holiday list released earlier this year, December 25th was already declared a public holiday.
Sindh government had announced December 26th as a holiday for the Christian community’s Christmas celebrations. However, the caretaker government’s notification only mentioned December 25th as the public holiday encompassing both Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas festivities.
Further details behind the decision are awaited, this will allow two major holidays to be observed concurrently with minimal disruption to government functioning.
