Rain Threatens to Disrupt IND vs PAK Asia Cup Super 4 Match in Colombo

The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan match in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, scheduled for Sunday, September 10, is under a cloud of uncertainty due to the weather forecast predicting heavy rainfall in Colombo. This comes after a previous match between the two cricketing giants was washed out in Kandy last week.

Both teams have had a strong run in the tournament so far, securing convincing victories against Nepal and earning their spots in the Super 4 stage. However, the weather may play spoilsport again, potentially disrupting the eagerly awaited clash between these arch-rivals.

The weather forecast for Colombo indicates a 70 percent chance of rain on the morning of the match at R Premadasa Stadium. The temperature is expected to drop slightly as the day progresses, but the chances of rain remain high, particularly during the start of the match. As the evening approaches, temperatures are predicted to decrease further, with no signs of clear skies. The rain is expected to intensify during the night, casting a shadow over the prospects of a full match.

Despite the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo boasting a good drainage system, continuous heavy rainfall could still cause disruptions. Earlier, there were reports that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) might relocate the final phase of the Asia Cup from Colombo to Hambantota to avoid the rain threat. However, the ACC has confirmed that the tournament will proceed as initially planned, with all matches to be held in Colombo.

Cricket fans around the world are eagerly awaiting this clash between India and Pakistan, but they may need to brace themselves for potential disappointment if the weather does not cooperate.
