National Highway Authority (NHA) has declared that the use of M-Tags will be compulsory on motorways starting from December 31. This decision is aimed at streamlining traffic and ensuring efficient use of the country’s motorway network.
The NHA has also stated that vehicles entering the motorways without an M-Tag will be subject to fines. The mandate applies to all vehicles intending to use Pakistan’s motorways, which include the Peshawar-Islamabad-Lahore Motorway (M1), Pindi Bhattian-Multan Motorway (M4), Hakla-D.I. Khan Motorway (M14), Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M3), Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M5), and Hassanabdal-Mansehra Expressway (E35).
Motorists are being urged to ensure their M-Tag registration process is completed before the deadline. In addition to this, the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP) and the NHA have advised motorists to use fog lights during dense fog and to avoid traveling unless necessary.
For those planning to travel via the motorway, it is recommended to contact the authorities on the 130 helpline before their journey. This will help them stay updated with the latest travel advisories, weather, and road conditions.
This move by the NHA is expected to enhance the safety and efficiency of motorway travel in the country. As the deadline approaches, motorists are encouraged to comply with the new regulation to avoid any inconvenience.
