de Vries to lose his seat at AlphaTauri with immediate effect

Multiple sources have confirmed to RacingNews365 that Nyck de Vries has lost his AlphaTauri Formula One seat with immediate effect.

Following weeks of speculation regarding his future following a dismal start to the season, sources with firsthand knowledge of the situation revealed that de Vries will be missing the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Red Bull driver chief Helmut Marko had urged de Vries to improve his results in recent weeks, but the 2019 F2 champion has only finished 12th at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Marko, unhappy by de Vries’ inability to improve his results, has pulled the plug and opted to dismiss the former Mercedes reserve driver of his driving responsibilities.

There is no indication on who will replace de Vries with Yuki Tsunoda, Daniel Ricciardo has been extensively connected with a return to the grid and will complete a Pirelli tyre test in the Red Bull RB19 at Silverstone on Tuesday, July 11th.

On Tuesday afternoon, AlphaTauri and Red Bull revealed that Ricciardo will be back to their team to partner Tsunoda, beginning with the Hungarian Grand Prix on July 21st-23rd.
