Cricket enthusiasts, your wait is almost over: the Asia Cup T20 2022 will be played in August and September of that year. The United Arab Emirates will host the opening ceremony for the 15th annual Asia Cup on August 27, 2022, with the final match taking place on September 11.
In 2018, the 14th iteration of the Asia Cup was played, and the final match was between the Indian side Men in Blue and the Bangladeshi squad.
Asia Cup 2022 Squad
Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan have already confirmed to compete, while the sixth team is still to be named. The United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Singapore, and Hong Kong will make up the tournament’s sixth team.
Starting on August 20th, a Qualifier round will determine which team would fill the sixth and final spot. In preparation for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup, the 15th edition of the Asia Cup will provide the best possible training environment for the six Asian teams.
Asia Cup 2022 Venue
When first planned, Sri Lanka would have played host to the event. However, when political and legal unrest increased in Sri Lanka, the Asian Cricket Council decided to move the location of the major tournament.
The Asian Cricket Council decided to move the event to the United Arab Emirates, where the six competing countries would play over three venues—the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, and the Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium—in pursuit of the title.

This year’s Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and Sharjah. 13 matches are planned for these two venues. Dubai International Cricket Stadium will host the final match.
Asia Cup 2022 Format
Since its inception, the Asia Cup has been played in the 50-over format. Now there will be two groups, Pool A and Pool B, and the game type will be Twenty20 cricket.
There are three teams in each pool, and they all play each other once. The top two teams in each group then go to the Super 4 round, where they compete against the other four teams, and the winners of those matches advance to the final.

On August 27 in Dubai, Group B competitors Sri Lanka and Afghanistan will face off in the tournament’s opening match.
When Pakistan and India meet again, this will be the first time that since ICC T20 World Cup 2021 that these two Group A rivals have played. The Asia Cup normally occurs every two years, but the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) decided to skip 2020 because of Corona.
