Arvi Gosht Recipe

Arvi Gosht Recipe – It’s a classic Pakistani delicacy. It is a nutritious curry-based meal that blends mutton with arvi for a unique flavour. The gravy for Arvi Gosht is made with caramelised onions, all seasonings, salt, red chilli powder, yogurt, and water. Cook the beef until tender before adding the arvi to the concoction in the Arvi Gosht preparation. Arvi and mutton are prepared together to combine taste and nutrients. When the arvi and mutton are thoroughly cooked, serve and garnish with chopped green chiles, lemon, and fresh cilantro. Arvi Gosht can be served with Roti or Chapatti for brunch or supper.

Ingredients

  1. • 1 Kg Mutton
  2. • ½ kg Arvi
  3. • ¼ tsp. turmeric (Haldi) powder
  4. • 1 tsp. chili powder
  5. • 3 tbs. coriander powder
  6. • 2-3 medium onion –chopped or sliced
  7. • ½ cup oil
  8. • 1 tbs. ginger (Adrak) paste
  9. • 1 tsp. garlic (Lehsan) paste
  10. • 1 tsp. garam masala powder
  11. • 6-8 cloves (Laung)
  12. • 6-8 black pepper (Kali Mirch)
  13. • 2 black cardamom (Bari Ilaichi)
  14. • 1-1½ tsp. salt (according to taste)
  15. • 1 cup fresh coriander (Dhaniya) leaves
  16. • 2 to 3 green chilies – chopped
  17. • 1 to 2 Lemon

Method

  • 1. Fry the onion in oil till brown then remove the onion and grind.
  • 2. Add Haldi, Dhaniya, Mirch, Lehsan, Adrak and salt in the oil. Fry with little water till it dries.
  • 3. Add mutton and ground onion and cook till water dries again.
  • 4. Add 3 to 4 glasses of water cover and cook till the meat tenderizes.
  • 5. When meat is almost done add Arvi and cook till the Arvi become tender and the required gravy is left. Cook throughout on low heat.
  • 6. Garnish with fresh Dhaniya, green chilies and lemon.
  • 7. Serve with naan to 6 to 8 persons.
