- Samsung Display is preparing to manufacture 7–8 million panels for the device.
- A public release is currently expected in 2026, with potential pricing over $2,000.
Apple has been persistent with rumors that it will make a foldable iPhone, and now it will. According 14th a trusted analyst, the Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities, Apple supplier Foxconn will commence assembly of the device as early as the end of Q3, or early Q4 of 2025.
That leaves us months, possibly well into the future, before we see the first look of the game-changing Apple foldable.
Still, not everything is sealed yet. According to Kuo, important parts, particularly the hinge, are yet to be finalized. Considering that hinges are generally among the weakest and most vulnerable parts in the foldables, Apple is understandably taking its time. The business will be interested in durability, long life, and easy folding mechanisms.
Samsung Display to Supply Foldable Panels
One component that has been finalized is the display. According to Kuo, Samsung Display is preparing to manufacture 7 to 8 million foldable panels to be used in the production of Apple’s first-generation foldable.
It is most probable that these screens will be the most cutting-edge in the market and may include LTPO OLED technology and ultra-thin glass to sustain it.
The official launch may now be scheduled for 2026, though the scale of production within the corporation causes one to think in terms of the future.
There is a rumour that Apple has ordered 15-20 million foldable iPhones not only during the initial year but also for an anticipated 2-3 years’ lifespan of the product.
According to Kuo, this alludes to the fact that the foldable iPhone by Apple may be shipped out in a number of units, with several million units shipped every year in the years 2027 and 2028, possibly because of its high price.
Price Tag Could Cross $2,000
Though we do not have official prices yet, industry experts predict that Apple’s foldable iPhone will sell for above 2000. It would then become one of the most costly consumer iPhones.
This would not be unexpected given that the company has a history of high-priced tries on new categories, and the same may apply in the case of the Vision Pro.
As with all major Apple product launches, plans can change quickly. Even Kuo himself cautions that schedules might change before the actual beginning of the project. Apple can probably monitor the market trend and competition closely.
The foldable is still a niche product, and Apple can change its plans depending on user adoption and demand in the other parts of the world.
However, the hype is on. As the production of the foldable iPhone is drawing closer and more specific information emerges, the idea of the foldable iPhone is no longer a rumor, but is slowly being turned into a reality.
