Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has begun production of its first-ever electric vehicle – the SU7 sedan. According to inside sources, Xiaomi started manufacturing an initial batch of 300 units of the EV at its plant last week.
The production line verification process was initiated after resolving earlier issues. Xiaomi also rolled out a new software update to fix problems with the vehicle’s systems. This initial batch of vehicles is intended for showrooms and select Xiaomi stores in China.
The production run’s purpose is to identify and eliminate any remaining issues before mass production and market launch. Xiaomi aims to manufacture two more EV models over the next three years.
The company unveiled the SU7 EV last month, marking its official entry into the electric mobility space.
However, Xiaomi encountered some early production line glitches which have now been addressed. With its tech expertise and R&D capabilities, Xiaomi is confident its maiden EV will set high standards.
