Waqf Al Arafa – Hajj Date 2023

Waqf Al Arafah – Hajj is one of Islam’s five pillars, and it takes place each year in the month of Zil Hajj. Hajj starts on the 8th of Zilhaj, and Muslims do several rukns (tasks) over the Hajj days. However, the fundamental rukn of Hajj is to stay at Maidan e Arafat.

Millions of Muslims converge to Arafat Plain for the Rukn e Azam. Over 2 million people are estimated to stay at Arafat this year. It is also the site of Prophet Muhammad’s (Peace Be Upon Him) Farewell Sermon.

Hajj is not considered over until people reach Mount Arafat. The Rukn is linked with the Haj. Pilgrims arrive before noon and stay during the entire evening till Maghrib. People who are not physically fit to do this duty can compensate by fasting.

Pilgrims stand in intense prayer and worship from around noon till Maghrib, begging for God’s great mercy and listening to many subjects of religious and moral importance. Finally, they beg Allah’s forgiveness and cry out in repentance.

The day concludes with the reciting of the Al-Maghrib prayer. Pilgrims perform Qurbani the following day on Eid ul Adha (sacrificial of animals). You can find the date of Waqf al Arafa on this website. However, it will occur on 26 June 2023 in the Arab world and 27 June 2023 in Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh.
