  • Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad stands out as the highest-ranked institution in Pakistan, placed in the 400–500 range.
  • Several universities are ranked between 601–800, including:
    • Air University Islamabad
    • Capital University of Science and Technology
    • COMSATS University Islamabad
    • Government College University Faisalabad
    • National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad
    • Sukkur IBA University
    • University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Taxila
    • University of Malakand Dir Lower
  • Universities ranked between 800–1000 include:
    • Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan
    • International Islamic University Islamabad
    • Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology Rahim Yar Khan
    • Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS)
    • PMAS Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi
    • The Islamia University of Bahawalpur
    • University of Central Punjab Lahore

Other institutions are found from 1001 upwards, 1201 upwards, and 1501 upwards, while 48 were placed as ‘reporters’ (i.e., they provided data but failed to fulfil ranking criteria).

For the ninth straight year, Oxford University confirms its position as top-ranked thanks to its strength in teaching and industry collaboration.

  • Stanford University fell to sixth place, while MIT moved into second place.
  • China is pushing hard in the global research league, in danger of breaking into the top 10.
  • Australia’s five leading universities have fallen in rankings because of a falling international standing.
  • Countries like Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE enter the top 200 for the first time, as emerging markets are on the rise.

Methodology of THE Rankings 2025

The 2025 rankings evaluated over 2,000 institutions from 115 countries based on five critical areas:

  • Teaching
  • Research environment
  • Research quality
  • Industry participation
  • Global orientation

The WUR 3.0 consisted of 18 finely tuned indicators and was used to rank the world’s universities in this year’s rankings. 2,860 institutions and 472,694 data points were analyzed, with 2,092 universities ranked using data from 2,860 institutions.
