According to the Met Office, because of the severe heatwave alert for the major cities and plains in Punjab, the Sindh Board of Intermediate Education Karachi Committee decided to postpone the intermediate exams to be held this month from May 21 to May 27.
In a post, BIEK announced that “it is notified to all students of Inter Part 1 and Part 2 exams 2024 should take an opportunity that the papers have been re-scheduled, Will start from 28 May 2024.”.
The decision was taken after the Sindh Chief Minister approved a five-day delayed exam upon the recommendations of the Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards.
The intermediate exams, which were earlier scheduled to start on May 22, will now start later due to the ongoing heatwave sweeping through the region.
Karachi has been hit by a severe hot spell with mercury levels expected to rise even further in the coming days. Therefore, the authorities were left with no other choice but to order the universities and boards for safety measures for all the students.
