Punjab government began hiring 12,500 young professionals as School Teacher Interns (STIs) to work at government schools across the province. School districts established these temporary positions to maintain classroom instruction until ongoing hiring procedures were finished. The policy lets STIs teach subjects without handling school operations or supervising afternoon sessions.
STI Recruitment Policy
STIs will join public college staff under the same rules as College Teaching Interns (CTIs) who work in public college teaching programs. The Higher Education Department establishes specific rules for who can apply, including details of hiring and payment standards.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates need both a Master’s degree plus a teaching license to qualify for positions in high and higher secondary schools.
- You need a bachelor’s degree and a professional teaching certification to teach at the primary level.
- All applicants need to live within the district where they want to work.
- School grades account for 95% of the evaluation, while interviews earn five possible points.
Monthly Stipends for STIs
Primary Schools: Rs. 38,000
Middle Schools: Rs. 40,000
High & Higher Secondary Schools: Rs. 45,000
Through this program, interns cannot pursue teaching at other schools or secure permanent jobs. After ending their service period, STIs will receive documentation to honor their work.
Application and Hiring Process
The recruitment process will involve the following steps:
- All four officials – Deputy DEO, AEO, School Head, and School Council – must approve the selection process.
- Merit list will appear at Deputy DEO offices, schools, and an exclusive website portal.
- Government will establish an exclusive system for teachers to submit applications throughout district regions.
A new program lets upcoming teachers get practical classroom experience and pay well before becoming certified professionals. The strategy provides an excellent education to students by bridging the short-term staff need in government schools as permanent hiring processes continue.
