Punjab to Hire 4,000 Teachers for Summer Camps in Schools

The Punjab School Education Department (SED) recently decided to hold summer camps at roughly 2,000 educational institutions during the next holiday time.

According to reports, these camps would be hosted in five districts of Punjab, including Lahore, and the department is in the process of finding 2,000 suitable schools for the program.

As part of the plan, the department would hire 4,000 ad hoc teachers for the summer camps, with the government paying them Rs. 18,000 each.

The ad hoc teachers hired for the summer camps will be in charge of arranging extracurricular activities, games, and academic courses for the pupils that attend.

Despite the department’s plan to hold summer camps in educational institutions, teachers at government schools are afraid that children will not be interested in such activities.

According to sources, the SED intends to organize the camps throughout the summer vacation months of June, July, and August. The department is presently preparing for the initiative’s effective implementation.

According to sources, the concept of summer camps was first offered five years ago after watching a similar practice in private schools. Due to the coronavirus epidemic, the proposal has not been applied in the last three years.
