There is a huge buzz on the Punjab bike scheme after the announcement of the Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz. The provincial authorities declare the balloting schedule for Punjab Bike Scheme 2024.
Federal Minister of Punjab Bilal Akbar Khan chaired a meeting on the program progress to provide bikes to deserving students according to the reports. Reportedly, the balloting for the 20,000 bikes would be held on May 10.
He said the high level of student interest in the scheme had made the Minister happy, especially when he was informed that the number of applications from female students was greater than that of their male counterparts.
He added that a review of applications with raised objections was done transparently to ensure the exercise was fair. Lastly, the officials unveiled an e-bike Portal to facilitate the e-bike scheme introduced by the Government of Punjab to provide 20,000 interest-free motorcycles to all students of the province.
To date, the portal has been able to register more than 100,000 students who are in the application process for the scheme.
More than 16,000 online applications have been received. More than 13,500 students applied for petrol bikes, and more than 3,800 applied for e-bikes.
The government will subsidize the markup on a down payment and installments on e-bikes and petrol bikes to get them back on the road. To be eligible for this offer via Dail, students must be regular students in government or private colleges or universities over the age of 18 who have a valid driving license or learner permit.
E-bikes will be initially offered in Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur,, and Rawalpindi municipalities, and petrol bikes will be distributed.
