Even though Saudi Arabia now allows women to perform Hajj without a mahram, Pakistani women will continue to follow the previous rules.
According to a spokesman from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, this year’s Hajj preparations in Pakistan have been planned by the previous pattern. This implies that Pakistani women will be unable to benefit from the new Hajj policy, which allows women to travel without a mahram.
According to the spokesperson, the previous regulation mandating women to perform Hajj with a mahram has been accepted and will be implemented.
However, the spokesperson stated that this decision will have little effect on Pakistani women because they prefer to perform Hajj with their families. Furthermore, under the previous scheme, Sunni women are allowed to perform Hajj with a mahram, whereas Shia women are allowed to do so under certain conditions without one.
