How to Open a WI File

A Corel Wavelet Image file has the WI file extension. WI files are raster graphic image files that have been compressed into a proprietary file format. Use a Corel product such as Corel WordPerfect, Corel DRAW, or PhotoPaint to open or edit a Corel Wavelet Image file. Open and edit compressed WI pictures in Corel DRAW or PhotoPaint, or import WI files to use as visuals in WordPerfect word processing applications.

How to Open a WI File to Edit

  • Click “Open With” from the context menu after right-clicking on the WI file. A list of installed apps appears.
  • Select “Corel DRAW” or “Corel PhotoPaint” from the menu. The WI file is opened in an application.
  • Save the file after editing it by selecting “File” from the file menu and then selecting “Save.”

How to Open a WI File to Use in a Document

  • In the WordPerfect application, open the Corel WordPerfect document to edit.
  • Select the location in the document that you want the WI image to be included.
  • On the top navigation bar, select “Insert” and then “Graphics.”
  • In the Custom Image dialog box, click “Custom Image” and then the “Browse” button.
  • Go to the WI file and click on it. Select “OK.”
