Peshawar, November 27, 2023 – The integrity of the MDCAT has come under scrutiny as allegations of the test paper being leaked on social media have surfaced. This development has caused a stir among aspiring medical students and educational authorities.
KMU Conducts MDCAT Test
The MDCAT is a critical juncture for students who have completed their intermediate exams in the Pre-Medical group, as it determines their eligibility for admission into medical colleges and universities across Pakistan. The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) oversees this entrance test to assess the candidates’ abilities and qualifications.
Previously, the Educational Testing and Evaluation Agency (EATA) was responsible for administering the MDCAT. However, following a scandal involving leaked papers and the use of Bluetooth devices by some students, the test was annulled.
MDCAT Test Paper Viral on Social Media
In response to this breach of security, Khyber Medical University (KMU) in Peshawar was entrusted with the task of conducting the entry test.
Despite KMU’s implementation of stringent security measures at all test centers, including prohibiting mobile phones for invigilators, students, and security personnel during the exam, reports emerged that the MDCAT paper had still managed to go viral on social media platforms.
KMU Vice-Chancellor Remarks
Addressing these concerns, the Vice Chancellor of KMU made a statement to the press, refuting the claims of a paper leak.
He assured that the security protocols in place were robust and that it was implausible for the test paper to be leaked.
He suggested that after the completion of the test, someone might have taken a photograph and circulated it online. The Vice-Chancellor stood firm on the position that the MDCAT test conducting system was transparent and devoid of errors.
This incident has sparked a wave of reactions on social media, with students and academic circles debating the implications of such leaks on the merit-based admission process.
The credibility of the testing system is now a topic of concern, as stakeholders demand accountability and improved measures to safeguard the examination process.
