The Sindh Transport Department has announced the inauguration of a new route for the Electric Bus Service in Karachi. This development is part of the Peoples Bus Service Program.
The newly launched route, known as EV-3, commences from Malir Cant Check Post 5 and heads towards Numaish. The route includes stops at several key locations such as Safoora Chowrangi, Mosamiyat, Kamran Chowrangi, Perfume Chowk, Millennium Mall, Dalmia, Aga Khan Hospital, Liaquat National, and MA Jinnah.
The Electric Bus Service in Karachi currently operates with a fleet of 13 buses. The first route of this service starts from Tan Chowk near Jinnah Avenue and passes through Airport, Shahrah-e-Faisal, FTC, Korangi Road, and Khayaban-e-Ittehad, before terminating at the Clock Tower at Sea View. Another route begins from Bahria Town and heads towards Malir Halt, passing through M9 Toll Plaza, Baqai University, Jinnah Avenue, Malir Cantt, Tank Chowk, and Model Colony.
Sharjeel Inam Memon, the Sindh Transport Minister, has also expressed plans to extend the Electric Bus Service to other regions of Sindh in the future. This expansion will be based on demand and is part of the Provincial Government’s commitment to improving public transportation in the region.
