KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan has replied to social media rumors about the arrival of Rs10,000 banknotes.
The central bank cleared the air after multiple unproven social media claims suggested that the State Bank of Pakistan is releasing new Rs10,000 currency notes amid a huge depreciation of the rupee.
SBP spokesperson told reporters that opinions of printing bigger worth banknotes are false, dismissing social media rumors.
While some social media users accepted the allegations, others were quick to point out that the name of State Bank Governor Yasin Anwar, who served until 2014, was etched on the Rs10000 note.
This is not the first time such reports concerning the release of Rs10,000 banknotes have circulated, as the SBP previously dismissed such rumors in 2018.
