According to a national publication, the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC) has reached out to international boards, demanding that they explain their intentions about the papers that were canceled last week because of the countrywide upheaval following the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
IBCC Director Syed Ammar Hasan Gilani informed the director of Cambridge International Assessment Education (CAIE) in Pakistan, the regional development manager of Pearson, and the manager of the International Baccalaureate Organization in a letter that both local and foreign boards had decided to cancel examinations scheduled from May 10-12 due to security concerns.
While local boards have already provided revised schedules for the postponed exams, international boards have yet to provide an update on their strategy and intentions for the canceled papers.
The IBCC representative urged international boards to discuss their practices regarding canceled papers and to suggest a solution for private students. He stressed that multiple inquiries from worried students as well as parents had been received.
In the best interests of the students, he sought a swift response from the foreign boards, pushing them to inform the IBCC as soon as possible.
It should be noted that the British Council has already said that the canceled papers will not be rescheduled and that instead, average marking would be used for these examinations.
