The caretaker federal government has decided to maintain the current petrol prices while offering a slight reprieve for diesel consumers. The price of petrol will remain at Rs. 281.34 per liter, a decision that reflects the government’s stance on stabilizing fuel costs amidst fluctuating global oil markets.
The news comes as a modest relief for diesel users, with the price of high-speed diesel experiencing a reduction of Rs. 7 per liter, bringing it down to Rs. 289.71. This adjustment in diesel pricing is part of the revised petroleum prices announced by the government for the forthcoming fortnight.
Further easing the financial burden on consumers, the government has also slashed the prices of other petroleum products. Kerosene sees a decrease of Rs. 3.82 per liter, now priced at Rs. 201.16, while light diesel oil gets a cut of Rs. 4.52, settling at Rs. 175.93 per liter. These new prices are set to take effect from December 1, 2023.
This move follows a previous review of petroleum prices where the government had reduced the price of petrol by Rs. 2.04 per liter and high-speed diesel by Rs. 6.47 per liter. The consistent adjustments reflect the government’s ongoing efforts to balance economic factors with consumer affordability.
As citizens gear up for the changes, the government’s decision is likely to have mixed reactions among the public, with many appreciating the reduction in diesel prices but some possibly expecting similar action for petrol.
