Google Photos gets conversational AI editing with Gemini

Google is taking photo editing to the next level with a major new update of Google Photos. The company has now announced a conversational AI-powered editing tool, powered by Gemini, that allows users to describe edits in plain language rather than manually select tools and filters.

With this feature, users can just type or speak commands like “remove cars in the background,” “restore an old photo,” or even simply “make it better.” The AI will then automatically apply the requested changes, making advanced editing more accessible than ever.

According to GSMArena, the new feature does not require technical editing knowledge. Whether you want to remove reflections, fix washed-out colors, or even add objects, AI will do this process instantly.

The tool also has preset suggestions for users who might not know what changes to make. Adding to that, it allows follow-up instructions allowing users to refine editing until a result is perfect.

The Pixel 10 lineup in the United States will become the first to feature this upgrade, with wider device support expected in the future. Google is also adding C2PA Content Credentials in the Pixel 10’s native camera app and Google Photos, providing users transparency about how an image was created or edited.

Pixel 10 users will be the first to get the new feature, Google confirmed that the update will gradually expand Android and iOS devices in the coming weeks.
